Built on IOTA
Kalalohko is a decentralized seafood logistics system designed for the Finnish fishing industry. Using distributed ledger technology, we will create an unbroken chain of custody from the moment a fish is caught to when it reaches your plate.
Local fishermen will register their catch directly, bypassing traditional intermediaries. Restaurants and consumers will be able to verify the origin, freshness, and handling of their seafood with a simple scan. No middlemen, no guesswork, just trust.

Every step from catch to delivery will be logged on IOTA's distributed ledger, creating an immutable record that anyone can verify.
01
Fishermen will log their catch via NFC devices at distributed cold storage units.
02
Weight, species, time, and temperature will be anchored to IOTA instantly.
03
IoT sensors will monitor the cold chain throughout processing and transit.
04
Buyers will scan a code to see the complete journey of their fish.
Cut out the middlemen. Get paid fairly for your catch with transparent pricing tied directly to market demand.
Know exactly where your fish comes from, when it was caught, and how it was handled. Fresher product, verified quality.
Access real-time data on catch volumes, species, and compliance. Reduce illegal fishing through transparent records.
Powered by IOTA Network
Kalalohko will run on IOTA's Layer 1, a distributed ledger designed for low-cost, high-throughput transactions. Every event in the supply chain will be recorded as an immutable object on the ledger.
We plan to use custodial DIDs for identity, IOTA Audit Trails for ownership tracking, and a custom indexer for analytics. The architecture will be modular, scalable, and energy-efficient.
